Primary 68 - Our Goden Calves

Image
Image Children,  At times we think that we need to make "gods" or "helpers" to substitute for what the Savior "can't" do. We want to fulfill His promises our way because we may think He, the God of heaven and earth, needs our help. "After all, all", say we in our hearts, "He can't do His promised blessings". Children, do not seek to school God because you think He doesn't know something. He knows everything. There is nothing that the Savior and Father can't do. When the Children of Israel had all that they had it seems that old habits die super hard. When Moses left for further light and knowledge, he was gone too long (by Israel's standard) and that led to people looking for solutions where Heavenly Father could have led them to the same light and knowledge that Moses was looking for. This is not exclusive to our ancestors. At times, we are like Israel (the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree) we th

Primary 67 - The Ten Commandments

Image Children,  After all the experiences of Israel, the law of Egypt was still governing their thoughts. The Lord was not fully in the minds and hearts of the people.  Brothers and sisters, sometimes we are eager to follow the Lord but have not put away our old ways so we have to unlearn what we have learned. Converts learn that every day thanks to the Lord's missionaries. We have to learn the correct principles. Some saints grow up learning and others have to learn daily in their conversion.  When the children of Israel finally were safe, well-fed, and watered, they needed a new law. It seems that for four hundred years the gospel had become polluted and a need for cleansing was needed. So we started simply with ten (never mind that it grew to 613 laws). Let's review them together (Exodus 20:2-17). We are going to show the positive spin to teach what God wanted for us as.  Like a gardener, he was fencing us in with law to protect us from the stones and weeds that

Primary 66 - Easter

Image
image How is the Atonement reflected in the Old Testament? So many stories echo the Savior and what he would do for His people, specifically, those that would and will follow Him. Such examples are building faith through the 10 plagues, recognizing the Lord in our redemption, they complained. He baptized Israel by passing through the Red Sea so that sin and vice could not follow them, they complained. He then gave them food to eat and water to drink in the most unusual ways. Things were sweet when once they were bitter, they complained. He split the rock and gave them water to drink and all the while they complained. They sustained the prophet and won a war, still, they complained. This Easter is a time to reflect and remember the miracles of prophets, priesthood, technology, a worldwide church, and temples everywhere. Oh our sweet brothers and sisters, do not think of your blessings as burdens. While it's true that with great power comes great responsibility, we must n

Primary 65 - Parting the Sea

Image
Image Brothers and sisters,  Mana is like faith and must be gathered daily and you can never gather too much or too little, just keep gathering. (II Corinthians 8:15). Bothers and sisters, the prophet has asked us to feast daily on the words of God in Conference. Why? Feasting on the words of God helps build our faith by personalizing the stories and experiences we read. The Lord taught the importance of consistency to the children of Israel by having them gather food and water daily.  When Joseph of Egypt gathered food he didn't stop eating for seven years but kept eating, he just prepared for famine. We must constantly strengthen and gather faith daily like Joseph. We know trials and difficulties will arise in our lives and we need to prepare ourselves now. We must also remember that signs come and go the reform our faith and that our faith must be centered in Christ. The Lord parted the seas and gave food from heaven and water from the rock. These signs showed God

Primary 64 - The Crescendo

Image Brothers and sisters,  Moses (whose name means son of none unlike Ra-Moses I.e. Ramsey who was the son of Ra) when finally taught, gained courage and faith was ready to free Israel came to Pharoh knowing that each time he asked to worship the Lord in the wilderness wa not going to be let go. The challenge was that Egypt's gods (who were fake) were in direct competition with the real God of all creation. Or in other words, the vain imagination and vanity and pride of wicked men were standing in the way of righteous doing. Moses had to challenge the artificial and worldly power that was being held over Israel. At first, the priests could mimic the miracles as they were small and they were outside with hail, lice, frogs, flies, and cattle sickness, but that was not enough. Then it was boils, darkness, and the loss of fields. Still, it was not enough. The Lord who didn't want to do all the curses, finally took the lives of the firstborn. Again it was not without w
