Primary 55 - Enoch

Image
image Brothers and sisters, Enoch was called by God to call people to repentance. Like all other prophets before and after him, the calling brings to the surface the inadequate feelings of the calling. Things like speech, maturity, low status, hated by family or country, low education these men thought was the reason that they, the prophets, thought God could or should have called someone else. The term Zion means a standard, a pillar, a law, a claim. All these terms we define ourselves. God calls us to be a Zion people; an example of God's law, where it can be taught, can be internalized, and shared. Another point we wish to share is just because Enochs people were Zion, it didn't mean they were safe or loved by other nations. They were hated, armies were raised and they had to show their true faith in God the Father and the Savior. We are asked to do the same. We want to be Heavenly Father's claim or stake, His ensign or banner. Our time is rough but we also l

Primary 54 - The tale of two sons

Image
image Brothers and sisters,  Jeremiah says that he knew each of us before we were born (Jer 1:5). When Cain was young he was worth it because of a decision. The decision led to lies and murder. He let his feelings get in the way. He let Satan wedge into his carnal, sensual, and devilish behavior. Generations later Enoch was in a similar situation, slow of speech like Moses (born much later), hated, and the least of his house. Heavenly Father took a man who trusted Him and tried to show obedience to the Savior. He became such that even the seas and mountains obeyed him.  Do you know why all of this happened to Cain and Enoch? Faith. Faith of both Heavenly Fathers sons but also, Heavenly Father. He trusts us to endure everything that happens to us. He trusts us to bless and edify the lives of others. He asks us to trust Him, to have faith and hope in Him.  We know it's hard to trust someone you can not see or hear but through the Holy Ghost you can feel His spirit, throug

Primary 53 - Leaving Innocence

Image
image Brothers and Sisters,  A long time ago Adam and Eve lived in a garden. All the food and water they could have, playing with animals, sunshine days, and laughter. Sounds great right? There was a problem though, that's all it was. It was like a Groundhog day over and over. Adam and Eve never questioned their existence... Well, till  he  came. The devil wanted to thwart the plan of God and learned as Adam and Eve about a fruit. This fruit could make a man wise. You see Satan wanted to mess up the plan the Father gave all of us. He wanted to make sin permanent and doom us all. The fruit was the key. Now, Heavenly Father made a plan for all of the mess-ups, transgression, and sin, and He was prepared for this. When the devil tricked Eve who told Adam, they took the fruit and learned their lives were going to change. Like sweet and sour, the taste of the fruit changed everything.  Perhaps they were not ready like a ten-year-old with the keys to the car ready for a joyri

Primary 52 - Adam and Eve

Image
image God created our first parents. He created male and female; man and woman. When He created them they were equals. You see Heavenly Father did not create Eve from the head of Adam to be over him or by his foot to be below him. He didn't make Eve from the sternum or back to be behind or front of him. He, God, made Eve, Adam's wife, from his side, under his strong arm, near his heart. This is how we view marriage. The very symbol of marriage shows how much the need to find and be equal in marriage is. As saints, we strive to maintain the companionship that will make you a better person and at the same time will strive to encourage your spouse to be a better person.  Many years from now you will be dating or preparing for marriage. Brothers and sisters, look for a companion that will strengthen you and make you smile. Being in love is not just a feeling, it's a commitment. This commitment will require trust, respect, compassion, charity, repentence, and forgive

Primary 51 - We are children of a loving Heavenly Father

Image
image Our brothers and sisters,  Happy New Year to you. We are starting a new year with the Old Testament. The very first message we want to teach and help you understand, you are a beloved child of an eternal loving Heavenly Father who thinks the world of you. The scripture constantly testifies of this truth. We even sing this truth in Primary and why shouldn't we? You are special (like everyone else). You took everything you learned with you to earth so that you could increase your intelligence, your faith and strengthen your ability to recognize Satan and his temptations but even more importantly the Holy Ghost and His promoting. This year we are going to see how the Savior blessed and is blessing us through great prophets, the gospel, and above all, the Atonement. We will learn how the Abrahamic covenant applies to each of us, how the gathering of Israel applies to us, and how Savior created rules to bless us.  We are so excited to teach you and feel blessed to be y
