Primary 52 - Adam and Eve

God created our first parents. He created male and female; man and woman. When He created them they were equals. You see Heavenly Father did not create Eve from the head of Adam to be over him or by his foot to be below him. He didn't make Eve from the sternum or back to be behind or front of him. He, God, made Eve, Adam's wife, from his side, under his strong arm, near his heart. This is how we view marriage. The very symbol of marriage shows how much the need to find and be equal in marriage is. As saints, we strive to maintain the companionship that will make you a better person and at the same time will strive to encourage your spouse to be a better person.

Many years from now you will be dating or preparing for marriage. Brothers and sisters, look for a companion that will strengthen you and make you smile. Being in love is not just a feeling, it's a commitment. This commitment will require trust, respect, compassion, charity, repentence, and forgiveness. Love will come and go. Ask any married couple. Sometimes they love each other, and can be mad at each other, or not like each other in a moment but they have charity and respect for their spouse. That is true love, deep love, a developed love and it takes time to make.

Adam and Eve had that love before they left the garden because even when Eve transgressed the law Adam wanted to be with her. When you have a companion that will stay with you when you are in trouble and eager to lift you to both stands with you and help you fix your problem, that is the companion in your life you want forever. Heavenly Father will direct the person in your life to be part of your life.

One more thing, marriage is more than a commitment but a covenant. We promise to do our best and be our best to help our companion, to lift, strengthen, and edify. Find in your life someone that wants a covenant, wants the temple, and blessing in their life.

Heavenly Father will create an opportunity for happiness in this life or the next one. Follow the prophet and Savior. We love you. Have a great week.

Challenges
1) Read Genesis 3-4, Moses 4-5
2) Which temple do you want to get married in? Print off a picture of that temple and hang it in your room.

  1. Beautiful. I was listening to a lesson that said Adam chose Eve over paradise. It's an important example that we chose each other over being comfortable. The Lord loves and blesses this effort.

    2. Paradise isn't happiness without your companion. I think that Adam showed that in his decision. He might have been simple, but this change in the garden brought out something that we didn't think of before until he was having to choose.
