Brothers and Sisters,A long time ago Adam and Eve lived in a garden. All the food and water they could have, playing with animals, sunshine days, and laughter. Sounds great right? There was a problem though, that's all it was. It was like a Groundhog day over and over. Adam and Eve never questioned their existence... Well, till he came. The devil wanted to thwart the plan of God and learned as Adam and Eve about a fruit. This fruit could make a man wise. You see Satan wanted to mess up the plan the Father gave all of us. He wanted to make sin permanent and doom us all. The fruit was the key. Now, Heavenly Father made a plan for all of the mess-ups, transgression, and sin, and He was prepared for this. When the devil tricked Eve who told Adam, they took the fruit and learned their lives were going to change. Like sweet and sour, the taste of the fruit changed everything.Perhaps they were not ready like a ten-year-old with the keys to the car ready for a joyride or old enough for the experience like a ten-year-old asked to handle firearms or matches but what was done, was done. When God came to check on them, first God came to Adam, lord of the garden, then to Eve, his companion, finally the real culprit, Satan. There were no pointing fingers just a child's account of what happened and the blame fell on Lucifer or Satan. He knew better and beguiled (tricked) them anyway.Brothers and sisters, just like Adam and Eve we chose to change our lives of simple beings as spirits to mortality. He probably told us, you can be here forever and stay as you are or you can partake of mortality and become more like I am. Now if you do it will change your life forever and you will forget all you learned, you will not get out of it alive but you will know Jesus better, learn of the Atonement and gospel. You will be able to taste great foods and bad foods, hear great songs and screeching, touch hot and cold, smell garbage and flowers. You were going to experience and are currently experiencing things no spirit has experienced. The prime thing is choice. In 2 Nephi chapter 2, we learn five things about choice. First, we must have a choice, opposition (left and right, top and bottom, virtue and vice, sweet and sour, good and bad, etc.), knowledge about the choice you are about to make, a law to abide by, punishment if you break the law, and the freedom to choose the first place with two forces wanting you to make a choice (Satan and Heavenly Father). You and I, all of us, have the greatest experience, mortality. It is designed for each of us in a way that each of us will benefit most efficiently. Take every opportunity to learn and grow and recognize the Lord’s blessings. He loves us so much to give us this amazing opportunity even though we might fall and get hurt. But the Lord has blessed us with the ability to gain knowledge and forgiveness. We love you guys.Challenges1) Read Genesis 5, Moses 62) Take 5 minutes to think about the experiences you had this last week? Were they good or bad? What can you learn from them? Can you see God’s hand in them? Write down your thoughts.
