Primary 37 - The House of God

Image
I got the image here . Our dear brothers and sisters, How blessed to teach you every week and help you prepare for a place like the temple. This week we wish to discuss the blessings of the temple. Back when the temple was first built, the temple cost and required everything that the saints needed and had. The act of building the temple was uniting. Mobs and vagrants wanted to destroy the temple, but the saints refused to allow that to happen. It was said that they had a tool in one hand and a gun in the other. (Perhaps that was not literal, but you get the idea.) It took all the worlds' wickedness to destroy the first few temples because Satan didn't want a united people; he didn't want the church of Christ on the earth again. He had fought tooth and nail to rid the earth of the home of Christ and Heavenly Father. He didn't want us to have the blessings of heaven. Furthermore, he wanted and wants today, division, anger, pride and malice; he wants back-biting, lying,

Primary 36 - Council with the Lord

Image
link here. Our dear class, This week we are talking about counciling with the Lord. You may wonder why we would council with an all knowing, ever present and all powerful God. Shouldn't He just tell us what to do?  Remember what we said about needed council or instruction versus wanted council or instruction? Do you remember the brother of Jared? He needed instruction on breathable air in his travel but also wanted light in each boat. When he asked for one there was exact instruction while the other the Lord sent the prophet away to think it over, form a plan, execute his plan and seek the Lord for what he lacked.  You and I were in the first and great council. Could God our Father done all the work? Sure but would we have been invested as much if the work was done for us versus if we were involved? Think about it. You and we were part of the plan. We came to Father with what we thought could help in our mortality because we loved the plan, the Savior and our Father (Pa

Primary 35 - Religious Freedom

Image
Picture found here . Our wonderful class, We wish to address our freedom of religion. When Joseph was alive, the various faith had solidified their place and attacked those who thought differently. Also,  the rights were getting attacked more and more. In 1831 (thirty years before the civil war) freedom was a hotspot. The saints were being attacked for their belief in faith and personal freedom. The prophet approached the mayor, commissioner governor, and even the president for a resolution because the Lord asked us to honor and sustain the law and truly show that we believed in being subject to the president (Article of Faith 12).  ...all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your good, and to my name’s glory, saith the Lord. (D&C 98:3) We know we were forced to leave the state but we must point out that these saints (though wonderful) were somewhat boastful and that may of upset the neighbors. They told things to their neighbors that they we

Primary 34 - Build and sustain

Our dear class, This week we are discussing D&C 94-97. It is important to realize that this is the sections on the temple and importance of building and sustaining the temple.  These days the temples have been built, but the act of sustaining the temple is constant. We are a temple keeping and building people, but we were not always like that. In the early years of the church, we were asked to build a temple in Ohio and in Missouri. The saints in Ohio were slow, but when the Lord chastised them, they quickly built a temple. The saints in Missouri were fast to say yes, but built nothing. Like the two sons in the parable by Jesus, the sons did the opposite of what they said that they would do.  A long time ago in Jerusalem, Mary went to the temple for three things; one, to celebrate the birth of her son, second to receive the ordinances and instructions of the temple, and third to place her concerns with the Lord. This is what each of us should be doing and if we are not ready bec
