Primary 37 - The House of God
I got the image here.
Our dear brothers and sisters,
How blessed to teach you every week and help you prepare for a place like the temple. This week we wish to discuss the blessings of the temple. Back when the temple was first built, the temple cost and required everything that the saints needed and had. The act of building the temple was uniting. Mobs and vagrants wanted to destroy the temple, but the saints refused to allow that to happen. It was said that they had a tool in one hand and a gun in the other. (Perhaps that was not literal, but you get the idea.)
It took all the worlds' wickedness to destroy the first few temples because Satan didn't want a united people; he didn't want the church of Christ on the earth again. He had fought tooth and nail to rid the earth of the home of Christ and Heavenly Father. He didn't want us to have the blessings of heaven. Furthermore, he wanted and wants today, division, anger, pride and malice; he wants back-biting, lying, and murder. He could not accomplish that with temples in the way. Israel lost their one temple, the Nephites lost all of their temples because like then, now he (the devil) seeks to deceive people by taking the temple out of the hearts of the saints; you and us. He attacks us by telling us that we are too young or too busy. He says that we are not worthy of the blessings of heaven or that we are monsters and should not go.
Brothers and sisters, you are amazing children of God; of a Father that thinks the world of you. He wants you to know that you are His very special people who will send the message of Hope, Charity, Joy and above all, Peace to all the world. Where that all starts is in the temple. Your parents and grandparents knew and know this. Some have served missions and served in callings; some are in callings now. Watch how they pray, read the scriptures and look at your home. Our parents have pictures of temples, of apostles, but most of all... Jesus.
How special that we can have a picture but more than that, a testimony of the Savior. We want you to cherish your testimony by telling everyone about it. Do not be afraid. Follow the Holy Ghost and listen for opportunities to be a missionary. Make the temple a place you want to be at. We hope that you made the effort last week to go to the temple. This week, look at the pictures of the temple. Find your favorite one and strive to go there.
Brothers and sisters, the world would have you pick a side on race, politics, war, etcetera. We encourage you to choose Jesus over the turmoil that is more of a distraction rather than a real trial that is at a personal level. Pray, have faith, repent and above all know that Jesus is in charge. He will be there for you every step of the way. This we tell you in the name of the Savior Jesus Christ, amen.
Challenges
1) Read D&C 109-110
2) What can we do to be more valiant servants. Pick something and work on it this week. How have you been blessed?
