Sunday School 45 - Moroni 10
Brothers and sisters,
It's the Christmas season and the same time of year when my family celebrates my son's birthday. My son was born in Virginia when we lived there. My wife at the time had wonderful friends who marveled at the faith, hope, and charity she exhibited with joy in her countenance. She impressed her non-LDS friends with her knowledge of the scriptures and willingness to watch and teach her friend's children at their own church. My wife, Shelly, shared her time and talents with her Baptist friends in their church as it was a place for the children to play and the faithful Baptists to gather on a Wednesday.
Shelly spent time with the children while her friends would listen to a sermon by a preacher in the next room. She would share the blessing of the Old Testament with the children, and I learned how the children would pull themselves away from the tots and playground to hear her stories of Daniel, Noah, and Jonah, just to name a few. When the parents learned the children were learning of the prophets they marveled at what they learned and were grateful that Shelly was their teacher. At times she needed administering angels and when they were needed the missionaries appeared to help almost immediately. My bride was watched every day in Virginia.
When my son was due, those sweet sisters (for that's what I will call them) were eager to watch over and help my beloved wife in my absence. They cleaned my home and watched my children and would feed and nurse her in whatever capacity they could. My wife was an example of Moroni 10 in sharing her gifts with others. Above all, her gifts were faith, the hope of Christ, and the charity of her Savior. The same Savior who clothed her, fed her, and gave her a loving husband and children. She shared that with her friends and let the message of the Savior touch their lives.
This year, reflect on the gifts God has given you. Reflect on his kindness and mercy. If you find yourself missing the mark, return to the Lord in prayer and supplication, eager to share your talents and gifts because you are learning to love others as you love the Lord. God is with you though you do not always see him. Take the time to share with others what you see. Share this season how you harkened to the Spirit as the shepherds harkened to the voices of angels. Earnestly seek the Savior this year as the wise men did. Finally, let the star of Bethlehem shine in your countenance. Heavenly Father loves us and has so much he wants to give to us. Be patient if the gifts are only one at a time. They are coming. God bless you Brothers and sisters.
