Sunday School 1 - 1 Nephi 1-5
Nephi and Laman had a rough life. One frought with a need to develop faith. Both had to escape Jerusalem, both had to retrieve the brass plates, both had to get Ishmael family, both had to build a boat, and finally, both started a new life in a new world. What changes were between them and the Lord. They started in the same place but split like a tree in two directions. Nephi learned to look to the Lord while Laban blamed the Lord for his troubles.
In our own trials do we push back or demand explanation. We trivialize what the Lord wants or do we need to see for inspiration and direction. The Lord knows us each on a personal level and it seems at times our relationship is full of twists and turns that help us to become the children of God that we were meant to be. Our trials are unique. Like Nephi, some of us are asked to leave our homes, some are asked to get to know strangers and make lasting friendships. Some times, we are in chaos like the seas of the great deep. Sometimes our are like a strange land unpredictable and foreign. During all those times Nephi reflected on three things, his testimony, the scriptures and the words of modern prophets. Do likewise.
Because I have a new calling os Sunday School Teacher, in teaching new lessons, I will be using an effort to ask questions that will lead us to the scriptures and stimulate the mind.
This week, here are your questions...
When have we had moments that required forgiveness and was it immediately given?
What has been your favorite scripture?
Do you make an effort to like the scriptures to yourself as Nephi did with Moses?
When you hesitated from a warning or administration of the Spirit, how did it affect you?
How did you attempt to repair relationships after disputations between siblings and friends?
At any rate, here is the first post. Get ready for a new year of scriptures and study.
