Primary 148 - A new beginning

Class,

There is so much wrapped in the Revelation of John. First, John pointed out there is the Lord's way and then there is mimicry. The Lord held his stars in his hand to guide others like the North Star and it's surrounding constolations while Satan let them fall, left to guide no one. Another example was a comparison to a faithful woman (the church) with all of her weakness compared to the whore of the whole earth who is faithful to no one. Now there is a ton of layers, tokens and symbols but I want to stick to the first principles and ordinances of the gospel.

Focusing on the Articles of Faith let's look at the Revelation. When we were first introduced to the Gospel we loved it unconditionally. We saw purpose and direction, now it's been a few years, at time we have thought things were cooler than the gospel. Now that comes from little faith. Remember that faith is the trust between you and Christ. That requires a strong belief in someone you don't see, hear, or touch knowing He has your back no matter what others threaten.

We are asked to be complete or perfect as the Savior is perfect but as we have discussed this year that is not possible in life. We can, like the Glass Beach, allow the Lord to chip off our rough edges and allow us to shine each time we do something that the Lord appreciates and approves. This life is probation (Alma 12:24). It's not meant for us to show we have faith and want Christ as our guide, our leader and that we have Him as our example. We take His name as our own. We stand unashamedly before others because He is on our side.

In the third chapter of revelation, the apostle talked about receiving a new name, something special Heavenly Father has reserved for those that have exercised faith and attended the temple. The name you have taken upon you now is so important and future events, prepare for more and more great things. Right now the Lord is knocking on your door (Rev 3:20) over and over giving you new things each time you answer the Savior's knock. Focus on the Temple and center your life. You will soon have the chance to enter the temple next year, be ready for those blessings.

This lesson wants us to remember that the Savior wants to eat and drink with us. He wants to show us emblems of trust. The sacrement is a big example of this great feast. Reflect how it symbolizes repentance because you want to be with the Savior.

That's all this week. I'll give you more next week.

Challenges
1) Read Revelation 6-14
2) Think of all of the symbols you see as you read Revelation.
3) We will talk about the four horseman next week.
