Primary 142 - Leadership in the Gospel
Class,
I had so many ideas for our lesson and even written a piece that was some twenty paragraphs. You don't need that (though if you want to see it I'll put that up elsewhere.)
When Paul was talking to young Timothy he told him not to be discouraged because he was young. The gospel isn't about knowing everything in Christ's church but striving for obedience. Sometimes we are asked to use our talents through our obedience. Being called in the church is a privilege. We are asked to stretch our faith and help others in the gospel.
So many examples like Paul's life show that in our trials come the best examples of how we can teach and exhort. I'll give you one. Remember Joseph Smith and the one question he had? Which church was true? That one question was answered and line upon line he learned truth. Heavenly Father didn't give it all at once, a little bit at a time. Paul told Timothy to teach the same. The gospel is one that answers a question with a question but with an answer.
You guys, as your teacher, I have strived to answer each question you have had. Remember the scriptures say ask and ye shalll receive. Keep asking questions, build your faith, pray for answers. They may not come at the time you want but when you need them.
Let me illustrate the lesson with a story. I know a fellow in the gospel who asked where he could learn English. He lived in a far off country called Albania. His country spoke Albanian, German and Russian. The country had a rough time fighting for independence from tyranny. My friend watched friends die. It was during this time he gained a belief that English was his answer. It was also at this time, missionaries who lived in Germany were sent to Albania not knowing the language. At this time the Lord had His servants meet my friend.
My friend learned English because he had a desire. He also learned the gospel. His question of where he could learn English was answered. That answer opened a door that enriched his life forever. We know you have questions and we encourage you to keep asking them in faith. I know your questions will be answered in a way that will help you.
Challenges
1) Read Hebrews 1-6
2) pray about questions that you want answers to.
