Primary 141 - The Lord's Way

Class, how do we teach? Dallen H Oaks in his talk, Teaching  In the Lord's Way talked about his struggle to nold his calling as an apostle was he a lawyer who was an apostle or the other way around? Paul was a tent maker. How much of his career is mentioned in his letters? When we speak boldly of Jesus, our lives can be an echo or an example of how the Savior's message can be delivered. We must strive to teach pure doctrine.

Learn of me is mentioned six times in the scriptures. Three times in the Doctrine and Covenants (D&C 19::23, 32:1, 58:1), twice in the Book of Mormon (Alma 36:3 & 38:9) and once in the New Testament Matt 11:29). When we learn the Lord's way, we strive to be honest and clean with our message. There is no gyle.

Let's reflect on things we should and should not do...
1) do not deceive - seek to tell the truth. The truth will set both the speaker and the hearer free.
2) seek no glory - we are the package of the message, not the gift. When teaching the Gospel, point asuch as you can to the Savior and His example.
3) come clean - live the gospel, don't just teach it. It will reflect in your testimony of Jesus. We are not just weekend saints, it should be daily.
4) do not cheepen - some times we make the mistake of using secure music or messages when we have the words of prophets and music that testifies that Jesus is the Christ.
5) do not fake the Spirit - we can manipulate emotions and call it the Spirit because we want others to feel the same as us. Let the Spirit come through the messages we teach.
6) don't seek to please - all to often we want praise from man. Let's turn it around and seek praise from a loving Savior who we teach.

We are Shepards, Ministers, Teachers. We are encouraged to do our part with all our heart. Do not pass it off to others. Your Bishops and other leaders are not supposed Ed to do what was given to you to do.

Do not prove or promote just present, this all that the prophet Joseph Smith taught. As saints, set apart as a church, we are encouraged to do the same. The Spirit will promote to our hearts and prove that everything about the Gospel is true.

Study to be quiet... (1 Thessalonians 4:11) Knowing the gospel calms us and increases our faith. This is why we have read how prophets can face advertising. In ancient times the Proverbs say... Be still and know I am God (Psalms 46:10). M. Russell Ballard also talked about this in his talk by the same name.

Watch and be ready for the Lord. Paul wanted the saints of his time to be prepared for the coming of Jesus. We are no different. We need to be present and ready. We cannot delay our repentance (Alma 34:33).  We need to be prepared. It's not just the Second Coming but at any time we will see the Lord. Be humble and patient, he will come in His own due time.

Are you living your best life? Are you trying to be Celestial? Now is the time. Paul prepared his Savior's saints and President Nielsen is doing the same. The Savior will come. Be ready and when hard times come, and they will, be ready.

2 Thessalonians 3:6-18 warns us to avoid people that would pull us away from the Spirit and gives example of those people. We need to remember to be an example of the Savior in all times and in all places.

Work hard and be an example. Have a great week. We'll see you tomorrow.

Goals this week
