Children,
We should not divide because of our unique attributes but unite us. There should be no rich or poor, bond or free, black or white. We should all be one body in Christ. That is why we are placed in wards and stakes that are by location. Paul watched as the church wrestled with doctrine vs. policy. Ancient Israel policy was law and deeply rooted in the gospel but when the law was fulfilled through Jesus, the doctrine, which the Law should of directed us to was now a stumbling block. People want to race back to this crutch and bring the rest of the church to it.
We may be different in a dozen different ways and come from a thousand backgrounds but we must remember that we are supposed to put behind us the things that separate us and come together with the things that unite us, those things that make us unique and precious in His sight that will benefit thos around us. Remember in our previous discussion about talents and abilities? They are ours to bless others.
We are more than servants but sons and daughters teaching the freedom of a loving Father.
Are we outward Celestial and expecting to show up at the gates because outward we we faithful or will the words of Christ be written in our fleshly parts and have had studied and practiced the gospel daily?
Is the law our kiddy pool while the law of Christ a deeper pool that asks us to swim? Do we doubt the Life Guard who has watched us the whole time?
The scriptures say "He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ"
Phillipians 1:6
C.S. Lewis once write as if he were speaking as the Christ about the subject by saying...
"Give me all of you!!! I don’t want so much of your time, so much of your talents and money, and so much of your work. I want YOU!!! ALL OF YOU!! I have not come to torment or frustrate the natural man or woman, but to KILL IT! No half measures will do. I don’t want to only prune a branch here and a branch there; rather I want the whole tree out! Hand it over to me, the whole outfit, all of your desires, all of your wants and wishes and dreams. Turn them ALL over to me, give yourself to me and I will make of you a new self---in my image. Give me yourself and in exchange I will give you Myself. My will, shall become your will. My heart, shall become your heart."
C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
What that means is there is a reason you have your talents and weaknesses. There is a reason your life history has the twist and turns it does and why those events changed you the way they did. You have a purpose, a course that only you can complete, a course that is leading you to Christ. Heavenly Father sent you on that course, not to fail but to complete it the best you can and touch lives along the way. You may acquire shackles of sin along the way, but that can be removed like barnacles on a boat. You may experience unimaginable pain and suffering along the way, but that can be healed. Speak the prize of salvation and exaltation that can be yours if you direct your path through the scriptures and hold to the rod. The path is strait but worth it. Tha Apostle James E Faust recognized it in his talk
Heirs to the Kingdom.
If you want to be changed by the Gospel be willing to share the experience and have it change them too. Give your life a little at a time. Like Christ teaches us line upon line, let go a little at a time so that you can become as Jesus is, Perfect (or complete) in every way. It won't happen all at once but if you let it happen it will happen. Embrace the things that have made you special and a blessing to others. No race, nationality or creed, no physical or mental struggle, no addiction or disability can keep you from the Savior or from using your story to bring others to the Redeemer. God wants you to come home. Do it with a head heals high and a heart and soul filled with gratitude and faith. This is my prayer for all of you wonderful Saints. In Jesus precious name, Amen
