Primary 133 - Preservation of your testimony and chastity

Image
source   Children, 1 Corinthians 6:13 13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. Paul spoke of fornication but this could also apply to things that pollute the soul. You would not eat a rotten apple. The foolish would say "But it is an apple". The same is said for sexual and spiritual purity. You cannot say you can get spiritual nourishment from corruptible things. Books, movies, and the like are no good if there is corruption in their content.  He further stated that our bodies are owned by another; a rental. We are owned by Christ if we care about our covenant of obedience. The especially for youth handbook encourages obedience, charity, chastity, repentance, and faith. When you become a teen you will be shown more on the topic but for now, strive for stern obedience. For moms and dads, he said that Mom owns Dad's chastity and vice

Primary 132 - Being a Saint

Image
Image The term saint in Greek means "one who is set apart". Paul wanted us to take what we have learned in our current state and progress from where we are. During that time Jewish saints were bent on the Law and what it now meant now that Christ had come. The Greek saints had not been raised Jewish and had not known all the old ways and it had created a rift in the church.  As we experience the church, we have to come to realize that we come from different backgrounds and our rearing is different but the direction is the same; Christ. When we take the time to realize that Christ has been there the whole time then we realize our path was perfect for us. All to often we either become critical or are criticize for our place in God's kingdom here on earth but we must remember that Paul said the eye is not more important than the ear (1 Corinthians 12:16). So is it with saints that grew up outside of the church as those grown up in the church. Do not discount your

Primary 131 - Living by faith

Image
image Living by faith requires work. Work is defined by the law. Living the law shows faith which leads to repentance which leads to following Christ more closely.  Now that was confusing. Let's break it down. James 2:14-26 says... 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?  15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,  16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?  17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.  18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.  19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.  20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?  21 Was not Abraham our father jus

Primary 130 - Changing Point

Image
image Children, Many saints can tell the story of when they started their testimony of Jesus and how it changed them from ordinary to extraordinary; Paul's story is no different. The road to Damascus. This faithful Jew wanted so much to follow the Law of Moses and Jehovah, he missed the Christ in the flesh or the people who followed the Apostles and the teachings of Jesus. He had to be shocked by a vision and blindness to see through a darkness that Satan had created for him. This not always the case as it was for Paul. Little by little we are brought to a change that will bring out us out of our metamorphosis. If you could imagine the course of a butterfly, think of this, first, you consume as much as you can about the gospel. Next, we cocoon ourself and allow the things we have learn to solidify and prepare as it changes ourselves. Lastly we emerge, eager to spread our beauty that has come from the gospel so that others can see how the Savior has changed us to who we
