Primary 127 - Theopulis

Children,

The Acts of the Apostles were directed to all of us who love God. Luke started the Acts of the Apostles by addressing Theopolis or "friend of God". You and I could have been who he (Luke) was talking about. He was addressing a witness who caught to know God and His Son through the scriptures, testimony, and the Holy Ghost.

Hodos is also Greek meaning "in the way". Romans and Christians used the term to describe people. Were they on the path to Christ; in the way or were they in the way of others' progression; in the way?

The Lord asks us to be a witness. If there is an accident and ten people see it but say nothing was there a witness? When we behold the miracles of Christ and say nothing are we a witness? Do we lead to the light of Christ or block that light?

The term Apostle means one who is sent in Greek. The Lord wants to send us ahead to bear witness of Him to change lives. That means listening to the Holy Ghost and not just hearing him. Do we change lives or just watch it pass by? We need to be a witness like the Apostles before us.

The disciples witnessed the day of Pentecost. A day when the Holy Ghost washed over them. That day the Apostle Peter taught with power as did his fellow apostles. The church grew from 120 saints to over three thousand. The gospel changed people in ways that move us forward. We need to change daily because we seek the Lord daily.

All these terms in Greek or Hebrew or another language mean nothing and are just words if we do not internalize them. The testimonies of others are nothing if we are just hearers of the word and not listeners. Listeners change and are changed. Hearers just keep walking when they could have done something. What will we do as followers of Jesus?

It is through constant prayer, scripture study that we develop our relationship with Christ through the Holy Ghost. As the relationship develops we become in the way or on the path. Our spiritual eye are opened. We start to see the hand of God in all things. This helps us to become witnesses of God in all things. Then we become instruments in Gods hands to be “Apostles “ preparing the way before Him.

We want to testify of the greatness of the gospel and the importance of developing our relationship with our Savior. It is through that relationship that we can receive guidance, peace, and comfort. We love you guys and are blessed to be your teachers.

Challenges
1) Read Acts 1-5
2) Take time to think about what needs to be done to improve your relationship with the Holy Ghost. Make some goals and work on it this week. As you go through the week record your thoughts and feelings.

Thank you for being part of our class brothers and sisters. We have learned so much from you and your participation.
