Primary 124 - The Bleeting Son

Children,

It is questionable as to when Jesus was crucified. Was it Thursday as John said or was it Friday as the others said? The answer is, it doesn't matter. The point is when the unblemish lamb bleeted as they were destroyed in the homes of thousands of Jews, Jesus was tried and tested and found wrongly suitable to live.

This wonderful man begged his Father to remove the bitterness that was placed before him. He would bleet (cry), bleed, be betrayed by a friend, tried with lies, whipped, mocked and embarrassed, and finally nailed to a tree for all the world at the highest point of Jerusalem north of the city to be an example.

Example indeed. Nephi was told once, “it is better that one man should perish than that a nation should dwindle and perish in unbelief” (1 Nephi 4:13). How prophetic. We the children of God would of dwindled and parished if wicked man withheld their hand so the Savior could give His life. No one took it, it was given.

At times we need courage because compromise will make it worse. When compromise screams out, we need to show courage. Jesus was a prime example. He compromised to nothing. Peter said 'not so Lord" and such things offended people. Judas as a clear example. He would betray his friend because, He, the son of God, would not compromise.

Pontias Pilate tried not to execute judgement on a righteous man and four times declared Jesus' innocence. He presented finally two options, a clearly wicked man and a clearly righteous man. One was a decent of kings and the other a insurrectionist, Barabbas who's name means Son of the Father (fun huh?). One was called Son of the Father by name, the other by right and title, the Son of God, the Father.

There were seven statements that have things Jesus said that fulfilled the law, the prophets and Psalms. The prophets and Apostles have quoted almost every prophet that the Savior made reference to.

The seven Statements of Jesus cover all the things we should consider when we are suffering.
Luke 23:34 forgiveness:
The Savior forgave and asked the Father to forgive for things done when people had little control of their environment.

John 19:25-28 temporal care:
Jesus who was spent on the cross thought of the very person who gave her all for He, the Savior, would both know His calling and would fulfill His calling. This person, his mother, he thought of her by asking his friend, a brother in the gospel to look out for his dear mother who, was probably weeping. The emotional sword truly had pierced her own heart.

Luke 23:39-43 spiritual care:
Two men who were criminals mocked along with the Jewish leadership. It was during the time that the Savior was probably wording Psalm 22 that one realized who this man was. He then repented and asked for forgiveness and knowing he was going to die, asked to be with the Lord. The Lord responded to the dying guy both forgiveness and a promise of redemption.

John 19:28-30 He finished the cup:
Jesus, who was the water of life, gave all and was thirsty. The gall and vinegar was supposed to ease his pain. All he want was water to finish His calling, His role, His, our, Father's will.

Matthew 27 and Mark 15 show singing or uttering the Psalm yet feels abandoned. The teacher always tests the student to see if they know the knowledge and wisdom they have been taught. This was the moment when a father could not watch his son die. Who would of known that uttering a Psalm in His hardest time, a perfect life, would change a criminal. We encourage you to read the 22 Psalm.

John 19:30 every pain you experience will come to an end.
Into the hand I commit/commend my spirit was the Savior's words.  No one took the Savior's life. He gave it up as a sacrifice for sin.

The heavens ripped at the beginning/baptism (schizo) of Jesus' mission and at the end (the ripped vail and rent earth). The reason all things must go through Christ is because He was rent and as a symbol we partake of it at the sacrament table. Sin and death was rent that day that he died and could not hold the repentant damned and it was completed in his resurrection. The dead raised from the rent earth and repentant was redeemed.

Now when we take up our cross and are crucified next to him in spirit, his compassion is full and his promise if sinners assures us that truly we will be with Jesus when we die. Our lives are tough but if we seek to testify of Jesus even in our toughest times we will be blessed. Not all trials are long or will kill us but when we endure all things as the scriptures say, the Lord will receive us through a rent vail that separates us from heaven.

Jesus was as the scripture says that describes charity in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8...

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

If you changed the word Charity with Christ you would begin to see who the man Jesus was all through His life.

When we bleet like a lamb for a parent to rescue and our cries raise to heaven, when we are in our darkest moments, please remember that Jesus knows our pain. The Holy Ghost, the paracletos, is there. He feels your pain and will give you strength and courage to bear the burden each of us carry.

Brothers and sisters Jesus was, as the Greek word encompasses, Telios witch means perfect or complete. He said this word when he committed his spirit. The work was both perfect and complete. May we all live as Jesus did, forgiving, caring for others, showing no bitterness when it is given, and always seeking the Savior's will in all things we pray in His sacred name, Amen.

Challenges
1) Read Matthew 27; Mark 15; Luke 23; John 19
2) Try replacing charity with Christ in  1 Corinthians 13:4-8. What can you learn from this? Try putting your name in for charity. This might give you some things to work on.
