Primary 111 - Whom do ye serve?

Children,

Today the world is decided. People who do good want to be seen. People doing wickedly do not want to be seen. But there is a third type, a celestial type, those who don't need man's approval, don't need to be seen heard or talked about because they do good, not for man, but for Heavenly Father.

The Savior taught that we tend to do things for one of two reasons, essentially. We want to be seen saying, or doing good or we want Heavenly Father to know we are good and don't need to be seen or heard. All to often, some of us are tempted to talk of Holy things lightly or do things, that are good, because people are watching. Do good because God is watching. Be a child of God in all times and in all places. When you pray, talk to God and not to be heard. Don't use vain repetition, like a script or poem, give thanks for food, raiment, the good thing in life and for the strength to overcome the hard times. When you fast or pay tithing, remember the Spirit of the offering. If everything is to lift others and glorify our Father, each moment will count. Share and teach the gospel, not because you want something, but because the Savior and our Father, want something.

Fighting against a need to be selfish is hard, friends. We want to give the same prayer over the food or wear our church clothes because it makes us feel good. Those are good things but always be mindful of our Father. Be a teacher, a friend, someone who would lead people to Christ through thought, words and your actions.

Remember, we are proud of you and see the Spirit in each and everyone of you. Have a great week.
