Primary 110 - The Beatitudes
The Beatitudes are so amazing that people have studied it for two thousand years. The Savior asked us to be like God through simple acts. He asked us to be meek and submissive to God and to take our trials as a a child accepts bread from a parent. We must remember that God will never give us something that will hurt or make us afraid.
The Beatitudes say...
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
These statements are short but profoundly powerful. They help us gain prospective and directions on how we should live our lives. The gospel is not one of confusion but of light and clarity.
Like the Father, He, Jesus will always give us food to eat and water to drink. He asks us to follow the commandments and seek Him so that we will be filled with the Spirit of God.
He then compares us to salt, light and a city. Salt is a great ingredient that has the potential to bring out the best in food. Too little or too much drive people who want or need it in their food away. The same goes for the gospel. Too much or to little leaves people wanting a new source for the salt of the gospel. The same is for light. Too much or to little light and the people who seek the light of Christ will be blind and offended. Finally, we must be the city, inviting, well defended with watchmen and towers full of the wealth of the Spirit of God.
You and we must be the salt, light and city that gives line up on line, precept upon precept. With each invitation of friendship, small testimony, smile, time spent with friends and family, this means so much.
We have the gospel in our lives and we must share it with others. We must live our lives so that our examples testify of Christ and help open hearts and minds to receive the invitation to know Christ. Remember we love you.
Challenges
1) Read Matthew 6-7
2) How can we share the light of the gospel? Take some time to think and make a goal for this next week. Write down your thoughts and feelings.
