Primary 85 - God knows where we are
Our lives are full of trouble. A prophet once said to let us not ask our trials to meet our strength but that our strength through the Lord meet the trial. The Psalms asked the Lord that He would not hide His face from us but that He would make us clean to see Him.
Brothers and sisters, trials are meant to be hard. A weight lifter doesn't keep the same challenge to build muscle but keeps making his or her challenge harder and harder to increase strength. The same goes for all our talents; music, gymnastics, architecture, engineering, science, or any other self-investment. Spiritual growth is no different and Heavenly Father is like a coach or teacher. He navigates trials to test and build our spiritual muscles and that strength prepares us for the harder and hard things; church assignments, callings, missions, and moments that call for our testimony.
Sister Bingham tells how when she lived in Lynchburg Virginia how she was put in circumstances where she made friends with people that she otherwise would have never met. She would have spiritual discussions at a church that was also a city center and meeting center. They would sit with Sister Bingham drinking their coffee (Sister Bingham would have hot chocolate) and the subject of the gospel would come up over and over. This is because she watched her friend's children so they could listen to the preacher. Sister Bingham would tell Bible stories to the children. They loved the stories and the friends of Sister Bingham would marvel as they would come into this huge playroom with all of the children listening about the ancient prophets of the Bible or the stories of Jesus. Sister Bingham respected her friends and their children by not talking about the Book of Mormon or the Prophet Joseph. She loved her friends and their kids and that opened the door for the gospel to be taught.
Because she had a testimony and true love of Christ, people became ready for the gospel. Sister Bingham didn't ask for the challenge but it was given to her by a loving Heavenly Father. All of our challenges and trials are the same. They are meant to build us and strengthen the light of Christ that is within us. This week take the time to reflect on that.
We love and pray for you guys. Strive to seek the Lords help in all aspects of your life. The more we develop our spiritual eyes and ears the more we will learn, see and experience. This week take the time to reflect on that.
Challenges
1) Read Proverbs 1-4; 15-16; 22; 31; Ecclesiastes 1-3; 11-12
2) Take time each night before bed to reflect on how the Lord blessed you through the trails you faced. Spending time recognizing or seeing the help we receive makes it easier and easier for us to see and to thank the Lord.
