Primary 81 - Our calling in life
Class,
Heavenly Father loves each of us and knows how we can help Him and all of our brothers and sisters. For some of us, it's as simple as a smile or pat on the back to encourage others. We can make new friends, share stories or jokes. Simple acts are a great way to show how much you care. We cannot emphasize how important you are to heaven and earth.
Esther was a wonderful and obedient daughter. She was beautiful and wise. When she was faced with trials she went to Mordecai, her guardian, and parental figure. When they learned of the evil desire to kill the children of Judah, she and her uncle formulated a plan. The plan was theirs but everything depended on the Lord. The King of Persia had rules that could get his queen Esther killed. It took the fasting prayer and faith of all of the people of Israel to bless the Queen. The plan worked and the monster that had made the king desire to kill the Jews hung from the very gallows he made to kill them with.
Esther could have backed out at any time to save her life and let others die, but she didn't. She showed courage and drive to save her people and saw the cause of faith to be bigger than her life.
At times we may embark on adventures of faith; missions, callings, jobs, or personal goals that will bless and enrich others. Now, our lives might not be in danger but we can recall when Heavenly Father has saved our lives or the lives of others. During those times we must be prepared as if everything relies on us but we put all of our faith in the Lord to make happen.
Brother Bingham recalls a time when driving in one job and while driving was run off the road but in that same moment the Spirit told him to pull sharply right and come back on the road. The Spirit saved him and other drivers on the road marveled.
Your life is yours. The story and lessons are yours. The events in your life are meant to build and lift you. Exaltation is achieved one step at a time and we are tested each day by who we will serve. When we make a daily effort to seek the Lord through study and prayer we are preparing ourselves for things that the Lord can give us. Easter was ready for the task because she did the daily tasks that prepared her for harder things. When you exercise your spirit daily you, like Esther, become ready for harder challenges. Heavenly Father has a plan for each of us based on how ready we are. We just need to be willing to do the work that will prepare us for the challenges we will face.
