Primary 74 -The power of belief

Children,

We will talk about three people. Last week we failed to mention Samson, the Nazarene, who was promised so much and despite his blessings did so much against them. He drank and partied and it seemed that in so much disobedience he was still blessed because he never cut his hair. Heavenly Father wants to bless us in even the smallest obedience and so it was with Samson and his pride, deceit, and arrogance. He was raised in the gospel and turned against the gospel. He is the opposite of Ruth.

Ruth was a Moabite who lost her husband, brother-in-law, and father-in-law to famine. When her mother-in-law wanted to move back to Bethlehem, Ruth asked to go with her. The two went to the city poor. The law of Moses had rules to feed and nourish the poor. The poor could follow the servents of the land but were limited to the outer edges. Only a few were invited to the inner circles of the land where the choice grain was.

While Ruth gathered food, Boaz, the owner of the land to notice the maiden and asked that his servants, both men, and woman leave her alone, and even drop some of the good wheat and barley for her to gather for her family. She was invited to the inner parts of the field. He even invited her to dinner many times. She was encouraged by Naomi to wash and anoint herself and petition him for the idea of marriage. He met him on the threshing floor. It was the place where all agreements (contracts and covenants) were made.

We make covenants with God on the threshing floor (the temple) too. We see to be pure for our covenants; to be washed and anointed like Ruth. We want you to know that no matter where you are in the gospel. Ruth started as a non-member who, knowing nothing of the gospel, was all in. Some of us know people who have been on that path; our bishop was one of them. When we seek the gospel and share it, we gain such blessing that God seeks to bless and teach us like He blessed and taught Ruth.

Finally, we will talk about young Samuel. His mom wanted a son so bad and made a covenant to dedicate her son to life if she got one. Heaven blessed her with seven children, Samuel was the first one.

Samuel, when he went to serve Eli the prophet, he heard the voice of the Lord. He went to Eli three times saying "Here am I". He believed the prophet was calling him because he hadn't learned temple things. He was like you, a primary student. Eli recognized the message of the Lord and encouraged Samuel to answer the Lord when He called. We encourage you to do the same. The Holy Ghost is with you always and will meet you where you are in life. You do not need to know everything to get the Lord's help. He will meet you where you are in your understanding.

Remember we love you and are Children,

He even invited her to dinner many times. She was encouraged by Naomi, to wash and anoint herself and petition him for the idea of marriage. He met him on the threat floor. It was the place where all agreements were made. Because there was a near kinsman that had more rights over her he had to ask him. When he did and presented the land and wealth along with the responsibility the kinsman said Boaz could have the Moabite and her mother-in-law. Justice had to be reconciled before mercy could be offered.

The Savior is like that too. We make covenants with God on the threshing floor (the temple) too. We ask that He redeem us and keep us. We seek to be pure for our covenants; to be washed and anointed like Ruth. We want you to know that no matter where you are in the gospel God will meet you and that he heard you when you pray (petition) Him. Ruth started as a non-member who was all in. Some of us know people who have been on that path; our bishop is one of them. Remember we love you and are attempting to teach you, as He does.
