Primary 61 - Ani-breakable
Joseph of Egypt had highs and lows. Second to his father's house, then enslaved, second to Potipher's house, then and imprisoned, then second to Pharoh. Joseph's life reflected two things, righteous life with direction and good leadership with the Lord's help, and secondly, his life was the similitude of the Savior. See, Joseph and Christ are a son second to only the father. Next, because he is our Savior, all redemption like the bread and water of life is through Him like bread was through Joseph. Next because Israel and his children turned to their savior Joseph they and all the family lived, much like we the children turn to our Savior and live. They were given prosperity, polarity, and priesthood, more on that next week though...
Our point, this week is that our lives have ups and downs; highs and lows. Joseph was a good kid, a good young adult, and finally husband and father. He, like his father, grandfather, and great grandfather was a prophet, seer, revelator. He, like those before him, strived for righteousness. No matter what was happening, he sought the will of our Heavenly Father. We need to do the same. We may have pits and prisons of the mind and body but our trials are made to make us stronger. We are made to be anti-breakable (thank you, Dr. Lili De Hoyos). That means, like bone and muscles, our spirit becomes stronger with each trial. We have experiences that direct our path to heaven. It is full of twists and turns; bumps and buses. Like a garden, we are pruned and hedged to build us and produce the most beautiful spiritual fruit.
Joseph was shown how God had a plan for him. Each experience he paid tribute to the Lord and His tender mercy. He had such highs and lows it could have gotten to his ego or pride but because of his humility, he saw the hand of God in his life and just went with it. If we make an effort to go with the flow, as we do, and act as the Lord would have us do, we will also see heavens hand in our lives, we will hear the Holy Ghost. Pray often and read the scriptures daily, bear your testimony, and smile, in doing these simple acts you will find deep happiness that when there is a famine of joy or faith, you will have a spirit to share that others will wish to be close to as the world was willing to be close to Egypt.
