Primary 29 - Power of the Priesthood

Image
The blessings of the Priesthood  In the church dwells the greatest power; the power of God or the priesthood. Some want to say that it gives a disadvantage in our faith but we must remember the power gives men the power to bless and strongly pleads with us to serve and encourages others to do likewise. Because of the priesthood, we can receive blessings that will help us in all the callings we are asked to serve in, even the calling of member; that's right, member. Remember when you were confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? On that day you received blessings to help you serve as a faithful member. In our calling as members, we have had blessings added, currently enjoy blessings, or will have blessings to help us serve others. We don't need to hold the priesthood to have the blessings of the priesthood; they are for the whole world. That's right, they're for everyone.  Someday we hope that you will seek to have these blessing

Primary 28 - Good Character

Brothers and sisters,  Wow, another week has come and gone. Hopefully, you have taken the opportunity to go through the reading this last week. This week seemed to focus on prayer, service, and the blessings available if we following our Heavenly Father's will. The nice thing about the lessons is that we can each learn or be touched by something that we can share. Hopefully, you will be willing to share what the Holy Ghost has given you if you feel inspired. One of the things that stood out to us this week can be found in the following verses... 8 And again, I say unto you, I give unto you a new commandment, that you may understand my will concerning you; 9 Or, in other words, I give unto you directions how you may act before me, that it may turn to you for your salvation. 10 I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise. [Doctrine and Covenants 82:8–10] How amazing, plain, simple, and powerful those scriptures are for us

Primary 27 - Directions

Who can save our lambs? Our dear class, Jayne B. Malan asked the question once as a little girl and shared the story in October 1989 in Conference. In studying the Doctorine and Covenants, section 77, Joseph Smith asked a lot of questions but it boiled down to one question how can we help the world learn the gospel.  A lot of us have questions about parts of the gospel; such as why are we here, where did we come from, where are we going, why we are families important, etcetera. You may have questions too about the gospel. Whither all the questions you might have, others not of our faith struggle even more.  Children, it is our responsibility to help others find those answers so that we can keep falsehoods from filling in blanks that are a struggle. If you say, "but I don't have the answers" that's great! You have incredible resources; prophets, apostles, teachers, scriptures, scriptures but above all, a loving Heavenly Father and a Savior. The three greate

Extra - The House that Faith Built

Image
Our wonderful class,  We wanted to remind you of this Sunday's lesson as it has touched us so.  Remember how we talked about a house made of faith with a sure foundation and the other with a sandy foundation? For a moment it touched my mind on how important it was to protect our homes of faith as they are valuable and vulnerable to the things that would hurt them. We build our houses of faith on a foundation that we hope is the rock of Christ but we must remain cautious of the sand of Satan that would cause our house to separate from the foundation. This would cause the house that we build with care to wash away when the hard times come. Brothers and sisters, be diligent in protecting your heart and mind so that your house will stand against the hard times. We love you very much. Have a great week. Brothers Keller and Bingham

Extra - The Christmas Tree of Faith

Image
Our dear and beloved class,  When we were at church this fourth of July, we compared our faith to an evergreen and how each moment was an ornament that hung on your branches. With strong faith, the moments and miracles of our lives were able to be sustained but with poor faith, a single miracle could crush the very faith we were trying to grow. As our faith has grown we come to realize that our hardships, twists, and turns, high moments and low moments all decorate our faith and love for the Savior. If you were to ask any faithful latter-day saint, they would tell you how hardships borough such great moments and miracles and how they would never change the moment. They would say how it shines on the tree. The chief example of this is the Savior. Healing the sick, lame, blind, and deaf all decorated His faith, but the crowning jewel was His trial. It is the star on his tree. Brothers and sisters, you will have a great life when you see the blessings Father in Heaven gives yo

Extra - Thy will be done

Image
Our wonderful class, This week we are studying the three degrees of glory and the eternal reward for our work during this probation. As we were looking at this we came to realize that our reward strongly hinged on one thing and that is weather or not we are willing to do the Lords will or our own. How often have we looked at the four basic principles of the gospel (faith, repentance, baptism, & gift of the Holy Ghost) and said "they are so simple I can do them any time?" Reflecting on these principles, we come to realize that they must be a daily challenge.  Have you had a person, who after your constant disobedience, say "whell just do what ever you want; your going to do it any way." They than weep, or walk away in disgust because of you decision. Our probation is much like that. Heaven gave us agency and urged us to use it wisely. Heavenly Father has said these are my rules but thy will be done. The struggle in mortality is to turn back and with a

Primary 25 - You life with Service

Our dear class,  First, we are so glad to teach you the gospel of Jesus Christ. Second, we want to emphasize the importance of having the Spirit in our lives, homes, school, and work. When we have the Spirit of love, discernment, charity, and hope we are then given the power to share that same spirit with others.  Class, Heavenly Father loves us and teaches with that same Spirit.  Here on earth, we are encouraged to learn from that Spirit and share that Spirit. The scriptures teach us "thou shalt love thy neighbor", and it does it nine times. Another example is "to abide in faith hope and charity", and that's three times.  We need to spread charity so that we will be able to strengthen others. Don't lean on others to do what you can do yourself. We do that by serving and loving others. People are strengthened by faith, hope, truth, and love. Some people in your life may want to contend with you in all sorts of ways. Do not get in the trap of cont
