Primary 20 - Air and Light
We are discussing missionary work and the trip home. The missionaries in D&C 58-59 had completed the course at hand and were going home. These young men, to some, we're told it mattered not how they got home while others were told a particular path. Why?
We are going to make a comparison through an example? The Jaredites when crossing the great waters to the promised land came to two issues; one, air, two, light. Now one is vitally important; air and the other (light) could go any number of ways. The Lord told the brother of Jared exact details for the source of air but on the other hand, he asked for A solution when it came to light. The boats could off been dark and would not of put them in danger, but the Lord asked the prophet to stretch and exercise faith and it changed all of the family and friends lives. What a contrast. The Lord when you continue to mature will ask you to choose your own outcome in situations that do not threaten your life or salvation.
When the missionaries were coming home to some he said "it mattereth not" and to others, he gave explicit instructions because it's an "air" situation. People are being affected by the decisions being made every day. Ask any parent, teacher, missionary, or leader, they will tell you times that the Lord gave instruction and other times, the great God of Heaven says "it matters not". Listen for the moments. The Prophet will tell you; teachers and parents all will tell you the things that you need to hear, do, and strive for. What you do with your instructions is for you to do in the way only you can do it. God knows you and your gifts and talents and just may ask you to do things He has tasked for you to do. Just be ready to do it. Some things will be instructed like a need for air. Other times it will be like a need for light and you must produce a solution alone or with the Lord's help.
We love you class, have a great Sabbath.
