Primary 17 - Gifts of the Spirit
We are so blessed in this generation and at this time to see all the miracles that have come because of the constant rushing and outpouring of gifts and blessings. Let us start this lesson with this quote.
"These gifts are infinite in number and endless in their manifestations because God himself is infinite and endless, and because the needs of those who receive them are as numerous, varied, and different as there are people in the kingdom. All saints are commanded to seek earnestly the best gifts. Chief among them are the testimony of Jesus, a believing spirit, divine wisdom, heavenly knowledge, faith in the Lord, the working of miracles, prophecy, the beholding of angels and ministering spirits, the discerning of spirits, tongues and their interpretations, the gift of preaching, administrative ability, and the insight to discern and recognize all of the gifts of God, lest there be confusion or deception in the Church."

(D&C 46; Moroni 10; 1 Corinthians 12.) (A New Witness for the Articles of Faith [1985], p.270)
To further illustrate the issue I wish to point out the scriptures the apostle of the Lord referred to. Three times in the scriptures the gifts are strongly referenced like the armor of god.
The other point that needs to be pointed out: Gifts of the Spirit are not the same as talents. All too often we hear how saints feel like they have no gifts; they can't sing or dance not realizing that the gifts are sometimes subtle like listening to the Spirit or teaching by the Spirit.
Another thing said by an apostle of god was...
Spiritual gifts do not come visibly, automatically, and immediately to all who have received the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Prophet Joseph Smith taught that most such gifts are "not visible to the natural vision, or understanding of man," and that it "require[s] time and circumstances to call these gifts into operation." (Teachings, pp. 244, 246.)
The scriptures tell us that we should desire and zealously seek spiritual gifts. (See D&C 46:8; 1 Cor. 12:31; 1 Cor. 14:1, 11.) We are also told that some will receive one gift and some will receive another. (See D&C 46:11; 1 Cor. 12; Moro. 10:8-18.) In every case, the receipt of spiritual gifts is predicated upon faith, obedience, and personal righteousness.
