Primary 10 - Our Roles
The Doctorine and Covenants teaches us that our role in the gospel is different as the ear is to the eye. We must realize that the ear cannot see or the eye hear and we are similar in our function in the gospel. We will not always be called to be something others get to be called in the gospel. For instance, a saint may be a great teacher or bishop but not a great secretary or patriarch. Heavenly Father want to help us stretch and grow in our greatest capacity.
This reminds be of starting spots as a kid. I had dreams of being the fastest kid around. My coach saw my potential and pushed me and put me to work. After the first day of practice I could not move my legs. I hurt so bad and it took a lot of stretching and time to get moving. The Lord is our coach. He know what is best for us and what experiences we need to be the best we can be. It is up to us to be patient and to learn all we can. The lesson may be difficult but the Coach will push us at just the right pace to grow and do greater things.
We love you guys and are excited to get to know you all this year. We know that this Church is true and you can as well. It will take study and prayer but it delivers peace, hope and comfort.
The gospel is like the Garden of Eden. There is so much you can read, learn and experience you may never get to try it all but that's not the point of life. The point in life is to enjoy what you experience. Like the difference of a lemon and an orange, though they are both citrus fruits, they are special in their own way and can be used in ways as only they can. The same as you are, so is the fruit. Heaven waits to see what kind of adult you will be by the child you are now. Father will show us what and who we are and help us get there like a chef shows a lemon how to be a lemon maranggue pie.
You are given talents and abilities no one has and it is up to you to share them with people who don’t have those talents. Do not think others don’t need you. You are important. You will see great things with the Holy Ghost as your companion as you diligently study the scriptures and follow his guidance.
