Primary 117 - Fishes and Loaves

Children,

The world is not perfect. Imperfect people have help build a church that is built on a perfect gospel and Atonement. Heaven asks for everything we have. At times we look at what little we have and feel hopeless. The world and the children of heaven need so much. How can we help them when they need food, shelter, fire and above all the Spirit. We need constant comfort and reassurance.

Let's illiterate this with a story. Twice the Savior had a long discussion on the Sabbath and the gospel. The day had gone long and there was a need for food. No one had food. Well, one young man had some fishes and loaves. He was prepared for him in both stories. The Lord asked of this young man for all that he had. The Savior then blessed it and broke it. He then passed it to the multitude via the apostles. They then were commanded to gather the fragments. Those fragments filled twelve baskets.

Missionaries feel sometimes like the young man or the distributing deciples and wonder how a miracle will be done. It is so overwhelming and yet God makes miracles through our faith. When we give everything Heavenly Father sees it an magnifies the effort.

We want to testify that we know the gospel is true. We know that as we turn our lives over to the Lord’s will, we will be directed and blessed. We pray for you guys and love being able to teach your class.

Challenges
1) Read John 7-10
2) Ask your family about an experience they have had where they gave everything over to the Lord. What blessing did they receive or witness? How did you feel when listening to the experience?
