Primary 97 - Amos
Surely the Lord will do nothing the save He reveals His secrets to His servants the prophets...
Amos 3:7
Brothers and sisters,
The Lord God of Israel is not impulsive like a man. Throughout the old testament, we have seen warning after warning given. Each failed heading crescendoing to a disaster of people, cities, countries, and even the whole world (remember the flood?). Each time God sent His servant to warn and plead with the followers of the Savior to avoid sin and wickedness.
We have a sacred land so long as we keep it that way. It doesn't matter where we live in this world, the world is His and He wants His children to listen and obey. The Lord gave outward symbols, sacraments, tokens, and deeds to lead us to the Savior. The scriptures are full of the testimonies of the prophets warning us and yet people of their time failed to listen. Will we do the same?
The message is eternal, a warning, a council, a promise from heeding, a curse from failure to heed the council. Here in the later day, we have seen the heeding of the Lord listened in droves. Tens of thousands seek to join the saints because the testimonies of thousands of saints sacrifice their time talents and everything in them to bring forth the kingdom of God. During this time the whole world is being doted Holy by placing a house of the Lord there. In the church, we dedicate our homes to God so the spirit can dwell there, nourish and protect us.
Amos showed us there will always be a warning and curse but many who read the old testament forget the promise, the love of a loving Heavenly Father. Our parents do not seek to punish their kids, to torture and torment them. Our parents seek to love and reward us with counsel and encouragement. It is when we go wayward that parents need to step in and help us back on the path by pointing out our wrongs and encouraging us to choose the right.
Remember your baptism and the covenant with God. Remember the Holy Ghost who you should keep inviting as a companion. Pay heed to the council of your parents and priesthood leaders. Follow the prophet and listen to the Holy Ghost.
Again guys and gals, brothers and sisters, we love teaching you and being part of your lives.
