Primary 89 - Joel the near kinsman

Image
Image   Class,  This week we are talking about redemption. When the Assyrians destroyed and conquered Israel and Judah, Isaiah was with them. During that time they had become blind in their fear and deaf in their horror. During that time, the prophet let them know not to turn to the blind, deaf, and dumb idols who cannot even save themselves but to turn to the Lord who is omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, and mini-benevolent. Our God is always there. He knows what is going on in our lives. He has all power and above all HIS LOVE, HIS CHARITY, KNOWS NO BOUNDS. We are His children. Being here on the earth is timed, watched, and kept under the watchful eye of the God of all things. Those times your lives are "crazy" know this, God is the author and finisher of your faith, if you let Him. We know, as your teachers, about being children. We were children once. Now as adults we are teachers, watchers on the hill as we have climbed the hill and encourage you to do the

Primary 88 - That old serpent apostasy

image Children,  We live in a great time in the church. We have the gospel. We have living prophets that teach us and guide us. We can attend church and live our religion. We can go to temples and do the work to unite our families. What a blessed time if we take advantage of it. There was a time when the members of the church turned away from the prophets and the Lord. Isaiah 30:9-11 says, 9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord: 10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: 11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us. They turn their hearts and desires away from the Lord. They didn’t want to see the light that would shine on their inequity. They wanted to live their lives how they wanted to in the darkness that only Satan c

Primary 87 - Isaiah

Image Children,  Growing up some are taught that Isaiah is a hard man to understand because he is so poetic and cryptic in his speech but by those standards then so are William Shakespeare and all of his plays. It's a matter of understanding the poetry of the times. Both used symbols of their time to teach and create a visual memory of smells that we are familiar with.  The thing that separates these two men is one was a storyteller and the other man was a prophet; a seer. One was about entertainment and bringing a smile or cheer. William leads you through a story. There were highs and lows. It was for pure entertainment. Isaiah was quite the opposite. He was a watcher on the hill. He saw the past present and future. Seers and revelators are not for entertainment. He saw what was coming. Now Nephi understood him even though he lived a hundred years after the man. He knew the landmarks, and plants and had the scriptures that Isaiah had. When he went to America, his child

Primary 86 - Money is temporary, wisdom is eternal

Image “In a dark place we find ourselves, and a little more knowledge lights our way.” – Yoda D&C 88:118  "And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another words of wisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom; seek learning, even by study and also by faith." “The great religious leaders of the world such as Mohammed, Confucius, and the Reformers, as well as philosophers including Socrates, Plato, and others, received a portion of God’s light. Moral truths were given to them by God to enlighten whole nations and to bring a higher level of understanding to individuals. … “We believe that God has given and will give to all peoples sufficient knowledge to help them on their way to eternal salvation” ( Statement of the First Presidency regarding God’s Love for All Mankind,  15 Feb. 1978). Brothers and sisters, Proverbs are words of wisdom that impact us to do great things. Ecclesiastes is also words of wisdom that tells us to not g
