Primary 59 - Make Haste

Image
image Brothers and sisters,  We are studying Rebekah and the two sons she bore to Isaac. Their sons were Jacob and Esau. This mother when a young woman was said to make haste over and over. She was eager to serve her fellows. She did the Lord's will and recognized it quickly. The turnaround was her son Esau who for a spot of porage gave up a thing of value and cried tears when both a blessing and a birthright were lost. He too had a desire but having a desire and having a righteous desire at times are different. It seems that we need to use careful discernment when making hasty decisions. Young men and women are eager to serve the Lord and take the call when it is extended. At the same time, people drink alcohol or try a cigarette with that same rush.  It's all about the choices they make leading up to the event placed before them. What makes it worse, is the regret that leads to anger, hate, and suffering that leads to blessings lost. The song Choose the Right tea

Primary 58 - The three P's

image We (meaning Brother Bingham) got ahead of ourselves in our lessons so we are backtracking a little. Brothers and Sisters,  Abraham was introduced in the last lesson. We had Lot and Abraham who were righteous men who sought the Lord. The scripture says about Abram... "And, finding there was greater happiness and peace and rest for me, I sought for the blessings of the fathers, and the right whereunto I should be ordained to administer the same; having been myself a follower of righteousness, desiring also to be one who possessed great knowledge, and to be a greater follower of righteousness, and to possess a greater knowledge, and to be a father of many nations, a prince of peace, and desiring to receive instructions, and to keep the commandments of God, I became a rightful heir, a High Priest, holding the right belonging to the fathers." Abraham 1:2; highlight put in for emphasis. He, Abraham, sought a greater and greater relationship with Jehovah. He,

Primary 57 - Abraham and Lot

Image
Image Our dear class,  We are going to talk about two men, an uncle, and a nephew. The two were both faithful people that were visited by three men of God. When the men visited Abraham he was quick to obey. When those same fellows visited Lot, he was slow to obey. Although he was strong to avoid temptation his family struggled. It is much like cows when they push against a fence. Calves inside the safety of the home with its spirit can resist temptation. However, when the cow or bull goes for the grass on the other side, although they cannot pass through the fence the calves can become exposed to the temptations and sins outside the fence and can leave, leaving parents that cannot follow them to trials that they cannot help the calves with. Children, Lot was spiritually strong because he was vastly spiritually fed but slow to respond and his family suffered  because they were not prepared nor hardened against the temptations of the devil . Perhaps they didn't bear their

Primary 56 - Noah and the city of Babylon

Like  Image Brothers and sisters,  The world is full of fakes. Mimicry is the best form of flattery but when it comes to happiness and the gospel of Christ it is so dangerous that it can warp the spirits of men and women to believe that the way to God is on a path that is more or less than the prophet or the scriptures. Like jewelry, fakes are deceptive and misleading and can cost us dearly when used to deceive us. The path to heaven is no different. Satan would have us follow ideas and people that may be well-intentioned but who follow the intentions of their hearts. This is dangerous and can lead to paths that Nephi saw that could take us away from the precious fruit of the gospel. When Noah (whose name means rest and spelled backward means grace in Hebrew) was asked to teach the gospel, he was also commanded to build a ship, a vessel of curious workmanship. The giants (or kings, we are not sure what that meant; giant ) sought to both kill him and dissuade him through in
