Primary 21 - Tempered Life

Our wonderful class,

Today we are studying D&C 61-62. We wanted to make a point to show you that at times we think that we are simple people with no exceptal ability or talent like simple metals or stones. Missionaries can feel that way too. As children of God, we do not see the end result from the beginning. That at times can lead to frustration from the pressure and heat that hits us frequently. As saints of Almighty God, we are asked to give thanks for these experiences. The reason why is that Heavenly Father loves us and those that He loves He chastens (Heb 12:6). Or in other words, He will always test us, and those tests will strengthen or temper our faith, knowledge, wisdom, talents, and gifts that our Father in Heaven has given us.

Tempering metals experience similar things. When metal is tempered it is put into a fire, melted, shaped. Then when the desired shape is made, the blade is folded, heated, and cooled over and over again. It is then sharpened and polished into something the maker can use.

When we feel heat and pressure or we feel that our life is being shaped to something we didn't see or expect, we want you to fear not and know God is in charge (Psalms 46:10). He has been there in your beginning and we promise He will be there in the end.

Life may not go as planned but when you realize who's the plan you are working with, you will be able to find joy in the hard times and be grateful for the easy ones. Have a great week and we will see you Sunday.
